Christmas Eve 2017

Christmas Eve breakfast
Traditional rice porridge/pudding with cinnamon sugar and milk.

This is the exact dish we place outside in the snow
for our Tomte (Swedish Santa) instead of milk and cookies...

On Christmas Eve we lit the fourth candle.
Happy 4th of Advent!

Christmas Eve Buffet - A Swedish Christmas feast!

Christmas ham, pickled herring, cured salmon (gravlax/gravlox) meatballs, beetroot salad, jellied veal, egg halves with aioli and roe and wort bread - all made by yours truly!

End of the school year!

Last Thursday was the last official day of the school year and there were break up parties all around the school. I dropped by both kids' classrooms to join in the festivities.

I started out in Jonah's class - 5M

The students had made Merry Christmas buntings
and decorated the classroom. It looked very nice and Christmassy!

Jonah and his teacher Mr McK
Gotta love a teacher who isn't afraid to wear reindeer antlers!

Jonah with his papier mâché creation,
the school year's last big job.

...and then I went to Lily's class 2D

Party in full swing when I arrived!

Happy Holidays from Lily and her friend K!

Bon Voyage!

After about six weeks here in kangaroo country,
it was time for mum to fly back to Sweden last night
so we said Au Revoir at Brisbane International Airport.

Merry Christmas

First of Advent... Broadbeach Markets and Swedish Church

Before Mum travelled back home to Sweden,
we spent a few hours at the Broadbeach Markets.

The markets are only a short walk from the beach.

Broadbeach Markets

After being at the markets,
we went to the Swedish Church in Brisbane.

First of Advent and an early Lucia Celebration.

It was hot and humid outside, but inside the church
you could really feel the Christmas spirit
thanks to the students from the Swedish Saturday School.
