Blue Monday

This morning we were greeted by rain.
Typical when it's a bus day.
Ah, well...
We so need it and it's quite calming,
but not on a bus day... and not on a Monday!
Thinking about it though,
this can only mean...
It can only get better from here!
...and I get to use my Autumn jacket from Sweden to keep me warm ☺ Oh, happy day!

Thank you!

Something that has been on my mind for a while... Followers ... I'm so grateful of all my followers, GFC, Bloglovin', G+, Linky Followers and followers through emails, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr... Have I forgotten a social media or two??! Anyway, thank you so much for following my blog about my Swedish Corner ~ Down Under.

I remember so vividly the day my GFC reached 100... and then 200. OMGoodness, I was so happy! I'm extremely happy every single time I get a new blog friend. Even though my blog is quite a small one, with 271 followers - compared to the blogs who have 5000+ followers, I'm still amazed that all you blog friends, are following me and my little blog on the other side of the planet.

So, what's the deal with GFC... Anyone using Google Friend Connect any more? It's still the main following option on blogspot I thought, unless changing to Google+? I've noticed I've lost a few followers on GFC lately... and that's when I started thinking, did they stop following my blog because they find my blog boring or are they upset that I wrote about Easter witches?! Hmmm...☺ Paranoid much??! Well, I am a bit sensitive about loosing blog friends. Are you too? Do you start wondering why someone stopped being a follower? Or doesn't it bother you any more?

Have a great week everyone!
Hugs from Australia♥

ANZAC Day 2014

It's a public holiday in Australia today, ANZAC Day. It's the most important public holiday in this country. The 25th of April marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by soldiers from Australia together with New Zealand during World War I. ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. On this day we remember all the soldiers who served and died, not only in WWI, but in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations over the years. It's a day of remembrance.

What's with the cookies, I hear you say...☺
Today I'm going to make some ANZAC Day biscuits if I get the chance.
If you click on the borrowed photo you can get the recipe I'm going to try!

Have a great Friday!
...and enjoy your weekend.

Loving all these bright Spring colours

I know I've said it before,
but I really love these wonderful bright Spring colours!
They are so happy and make my heart sing♥

It's crazy, I know...
We are in the middle of Autumn here in the southern hemisphere
and I still decorate as if it was Spring time☺.

Our beautiful warm days have cool mornings.
It's quite refreshing with 17°C/63°F
and then during the day we are lucky to enjoy
28-29°C/82-84°F.

Queensland weather
Beautiful one day - Perfect the next☺

Big hugs

Easter 2014

Easter is officially over for this time,
but I'll keep my décor up for a little longer... ☺
It's so bright and beautiful with all this yellow!

***
Today we have a wonderful sunny day here in my corner of the world.
My big boy is at school and my little princess busy at home.

Hubby and I have been doing plumbing.
Teamwork!
Afterwards, we had sandwiches for lunch
- freshly baked sweetened rye bread with vintage cheddar cheese.

Yum☺

What are you all up to?

Back to school

First day of term 2!
Mummy Hen has to let her little chicken go... ☺
Feels weird to only have one little one left at home.

Back to normal routines
- no more sleep-ins to 7am lol

Luckily it's a short three day week
due to ANZAC Day Public Holiday on Friday the 25th.

Have a great week everyone☺

Finally Easter in the heart of the home...

Wow,
finally some Easter décor in our sit-down kitchen.

The kitchen table was covered in toys, cars and our hockey game
and I felt that it didn't feel like Easter at all.
- It was more like a messy kid's room than a place to enjoy good food.

So.
Today, on Easter Monday - the last day of Easter,
I had a major clean-up and decorated the whole area.

Tadaaaa...

Yellow and cream feathers and
a row of vintage paper chickens from my childhood
casually placed on the shelf.

Soft pastels in the window - nesting eggs from IKEA.

On the kitchen table a yellow table cloth and
vintage candle rings from Sweden with lovely Spring colours
- yellow, white and light green.

Too bright to take photos in the kitchen,
but you get the idea ☺

My first Easter egg... still intact!

Some antique Easter décor from my late paternal grandfather (1890-1980)
and my late maternal grandmother (1921-2011)

I so enjoy seeing these old ones being used.

Antique Easter witch and chickens.

More eggs and a bunch of chickens.

Love the bright colours of the eggs.

Some of the chicks are really old and tired now...
but I still love them
- and they are going to stay in the family for many more years to come!

Eggs and witches - so crucial in the Swedish Easter décor!

My maternal grandmother's colourful eggs...
I normally hang them up,
but this year they are beautiful in a vintage depression glass dish.

I think I'll wait a day or two a couple of weeks,
until I take everything down...
When do you pack away your décor?
